About the designer

Marina Astakhova is a multidisciplinary artist whose work reflects, like a colourful kaleidoscope, the many facets and the harmony of the world around us.

A graduate of Natalia Sitnikova's abstraction studio and of the Moscow School of Contemporary Art, Marina takes an active part in exhibitions and projects. Her works are held in private and public collections in Russia and abroad.

The hallmark of her method is the creation of abstract geometric ornaments, bringing together — in her own interpretation — the ideas of op art and neoplasticism, geometric abstraction and Russian constructivism, orphism and hard-edge painting.

In her work, recognisable objects of nature and emotional states break down into elements and, through the artist's inner prism, are reassembled into abstract ornaments. Each piece is charged with inner energy. For her, practice means continuous structured experiments with form, colour, technique and material, in pursuit of a single aesthetic harmony of all elements.
